This memoir reads like a novel, with incredibly vivid scenes that I feel will forever be etched in my mind. It's like she says - "this is no self help book". Start your review of Drunk Mom. I wish someone would have taken a few extra read throughs before publishing. Almost 3 months ago I finished reading this book, since then we had countless discussions on it in my course and I even did a presentation on one of the chapters, which received positive feedback. As it were, I managed it to finish it in two days, while neglecting my children at a level barely worth a mention. Yet, I am still torn about this book. Mostly her style, if you can call it that, is blunt, non-descriptive sentences, and lots of repetition. Not all of us are drunks, addicts, but among our lot, arent we a lot of harmful things?
